Im Josh, a budding freelance commercial photographer from Middlesbrough. I have an AS level in photography and i am now in my first year of a national diploma in photography. it has been my hobby for about 4.5 years now. I am going on to study commercial photography at foundation degree level in September 2011 which will allow me to do the last year in the BA honours degree, leaving my with an AS, B-TEC and 2 degrees in photography..
My main interests are landscape and cityscape photography but i like to try all of it from portraits/weddings to macro ect ect. My main goal for the next 5 years is to set up my own business in commercial photography.

Hmmm, i think im falling behind, the course isnt motivating me anymore and im getting a bit worried. The project now is the Puffin book cover competition and i have NO ideas at all, which is worrying. The books called at swim-two-birds and the story line makes no sense what so ever and is rather un-photogenic, probably why the books only ever had 1 photographic cover in its past... and that still didnt make sense. Id actually love to be able to pack up, leave and open my own studio but i dont have the money. I mean, to be fair, a national diploma in photography is going to mean nothing to any future clients, my portfolio is whats going to get

Right...
So im doing a national diploma in photography, along with this i have to do an AS level in gaphics... I have 10 mins of this 90 minute lesson left, im really bored, i finished my final piece agessss ago and did another one. This isnt my thing, if i wanted a crash course in CS4 that includes only things i already know i would have taken graphics, but since i want to be a photographer i took the logical option. Ranting isnt usually my thing but im sick of watching my lecturer do really basic things infront of the class and taking 2 hours to teach 10 minute tasks, i want out!

Right, so here i am, my first journal entry!
Im onto about my 5th week now on a national diploma photography course, its great to be honest, im surprised im learning stuff already. Iv finished my first sketchbook, which again, im surprised i actually managed that. My brief for the first assignment is personal space, im slightly wondering what i can do for this, im not to sure yet but i have a shoot with a friend of mine soon, hopefully in an abandoned building so hopefully i can pull something from that maybe? Other than that im a bit stumped for ideas really, which isnt quite like me. I think i'll do some local gig photography as well, ther
